Lengthy, Complex Business Dispute Defended With Favorable Results

In May 2011, Jim Foland and Mark Haddad defended an individual in a business dispute between two former partners.  The case, originally filed in 2006 and later re-filed in 2007, arose out of an alleged joint venture to build a billboard in Kansas City, Missouri.  The Plaintiff sought compensatory damages in excess of $750,000 and an additional amount in punitive damages.  After nearly 4 years of discovery and a week of testimony and evidence at trial, the Jackson County jury took less than 2 and a half hours to award the Plaintiff less than 8% of his claimed damages and zero punitive damages.  The case is styled Curtis Massood v. Michael McBane and Greg Short, Jackson County, MO Case No. 0716-CV27097.
